LAND TRANSPORT
This could be by road or by rail.
Road Transport: This enables goods and passengers to be carried from one place to another within the town and from one town to another. Examples are cars, buses, lorries, camels, donkeys, horses e.t.c
Rail Transport: This makes use of train. We have passenger train and goods train.

ADVANTAGES
It is possible for a person to own his own
It is very flexible and provide door-to-door service in every country
Passengers pay cheaper fare when they travel by road
It is not usually limited by bad roads.

DISADVANTAGES
It usually encounters traffic congestion.
It is more prone to accidents than other forms of transport.

WATER TRANSPORTATION
This can be grouped into three:
o River transport
o Ferry service
o Sea and ocean liner

ADVANTAGES
 It is ideal for transporting perishable goods
 It is the cheapest means of transportation from one country to another
 It is not so prone to accidents

DISADVANTAGES
 It requires a lot of capital to run
 Vessels operating on high seas are too slow to get to their destinations
 Operation of water transport is usually disturbed by bad weather.

PIPELINE TRANSPORTATION
Pipelines are means of transporting gases and liquids such as water, crude oil and refined petroleum products.
Pipelines are usually built underground and sometimes on the surface with pumping stations erected along the lines to provide the necessary pressure for the movement of the gases or liquids to its destinations.

ADVANTAGES
 Pipelines are usually durable and once constructed the maintenance cost is low
 Road congestion, accidents and the destruction of roads by tankers will reduce by using pipelines as means of transportation.

DISADVANTAGES
 Damages to pipelines usually leads to a lot of wastages of the liquid carried.
 Pipelines are rigid; the route cannot change once they are laid.
